Idolothripinae

All of the 600 known species in this subfamily feed only on fungal spores. They have exceptionally wide maxillary stylets that enable whole spores to be sucked into the body. Such species are of little interest to agriculturalists, but their large size frequently causes entomologists to ask questions about their identity.
